Leading in Crisis: Four Leaders Who Did It Right
Join our free webinar about how to continue to learn and evolve and lead your organization through crisis.
As the Coronavirus pandemic and resulting economic slowdown continue, leaders need to become more deliberate students of how to lead in a prolonged crisis.
To help with that, thoughtLEADERS will be offering a free webinar called Leading in Crisis: Four Leaders Who Did It Right. We’ll be sharing case studies of four exceptional leaders as they faced significant crises and the perhaps unconventional wisdom they gained from those experiences.
The webinar is a one-hour session you can attend live or on-demand, free of charge, and will be taught by Paul Smith and Gary Ross, the thoughtLEADERS principals who developed the firm’s courses Storytelling for Leaders and Leading Through Change.
This free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern. You can sign up here:

Here’s a sneak peek at one of the exceptional leaders whose stories will be featured in the webinar: Katherine Hudson.
Before Hudson was CEO of the Brady Corporation, she was an executive at Kodak. At one point she visited a big customer in Japan during an economic crisis. As she was about to leave, the customer handed her a huge purchase order for new product.
Hudson was shocked, and asked, “Given the difficult economic conditions in your country, are you sure you want to make this large investment now?”
The Japanese executive pointed to a large bamboo plant in his office and explained, “See how it grows? It has long spurts of growth and then stops for a while. It’s during the times of slower growth that the bamboo plant builds the strong rings that serve as the foundation for its next growth spurt. Similarly for our business, it’s wise to make whatever investments we need to ready our organization for the future.”
Spoiler: they spent the money anyway.
Gary and Paul discuss what Katherine Hudson learned from that experience about the wisdom of investing in your business during economic hardship – what Hudson now refers to as “the bamboo years.” Come hear that discussion as well as one on three other exceptional leaders as they led through crisis.
See you on December 10th.
