Tim Eng, Principal
Tim has a diverse background with experience as an entrepreneur, small business owner, project manager, and veteran. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2005 and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army. He served as an Engineer Platoon Leader while deployed to Iraq where he earned a Bronze Star and Combat Action badge while managing over millions of dollars’ worth of infrastructure projects. Tim later served as a project engineer with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency where he managed Top Secret, hard target defeat projects, to test the U.S. Air Force’s Massive Ordnance Penetrator program at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. Tim continues his military service in the Army Reserves at the rank of Major.
His leadership and combat experience enabled a natural transition into the project management career field. He has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. As a certified Project Management Professional, PMP, Tim works for the Department of Homeland Security as one of only three Senior Project Managers for the TSA Real Estate Management Division. He is responsible for all TSA general construction projects, which incorporates IT, physical security, furniture, and space planning requirements at all airports from the west of the Mississippi River to Guam.
As an entrepreneur, Tim founded two highly profitable small businesses. After selling his business, Tim moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area and served as VP for Value of a Veteran, a veteran-owned HR business that focused on educating medium to large companies on the value of hiring veterans. Tim also served as COO for a mobile app start-up. He understands what it means to hustle, manage time, and work with demanding clients to meet tight deadlines. He’s applied the leadership principles he learned from West Point and his army combat experience to being a successful small business owner and consultant.
Tim enjoys sharing his leadership experience and believes in the abundance over scarcity mindset. He brings a fresh outlook to project management and has a passion for teaching and coaching managers to build their leadership skills.
In his free time, Tim helps fellow veterans make the transition from the military into the corporate sector. His pastimes include reading financial books and attending football games with his daughters. He lives in San Francisco, California.
