Steve is an expert in brand and product management, strategy, and P&L management with almost 20 years of experience at Procter & Gamble and Abbott Nutrition. He has experience leading and running some of the world’s largest brands including Pampers, Crest, Ensure, and had assignments on the Walmart and Target customer teams. Steve had extensive global experience with P&G, where he led global innovation for Crest Pro-Health and was the Marketing Director in Guangzhou, China where he led the marketing and sales teams for Crest and Oral-B across China, Taiwan, and Hong-Kong.

As VP of Marketing, Innovation, and Analytics for the Therapeutic Nutrition business at Abbott, Steve’s responsibilities included leading the Consumer, Hospital, Outpatient, Retail and e-commerce teams across a broad portfolio of nutrition products. He led all marketing activities including concept testing, innovation, retail strategies and sales priorities for hospitals, PCPs, NPs, and PAs. Steve led Ensure to share growth of over 20 points in the hospital and led the business to deliver its financial commitments for the first time in five years.

Steve’s unique approach to running a business includes applying a disciplined process to managing a product, ensuring you understand the Key Business Drivers (awareness, trial, repeat) and a focused approach to spending and making choices. The skills and experiences that Steve learned at P&G combined with a focus on fewer activities and clear decisions on “what we should NOT do” has led to successful business results and frequent requests to help train others in his past organizations.

He led segments of P&G’s Brand Management University and helped lead the creation of the Abbott Nutrition University. He has recently started his own consulting and training company, Brand KBD, LLC, helping companies focus on the Key Business Drivers of growth. Steve has a passion for learning, training, and sharing his experiences.

Steve has a BSBA in Marketing from Ohio State, an MBA from The Kelley School at Indiana University, and recently completed a certificate in Digital Marketing from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. Steve is a guest lecturer in the MBA program at Ohio State and works with Rev1 as an advisor for startup companies.

He resides in New Albany, OH with his wife, a fellow Buckeye and former Accenture manager and their three children, Tommy, Joey, and Ashley. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, travelling, coaching his kids, golf, and riding (cycling is too strong of a word) in Pelotonia to help raise funds for cancer research.
