Brian is a software technology executive, passionate technologist and creative, lateral thinker who loves building things. He has a Computer Science degree from Boston University. With over sixteen years working in technology and consulting, he was most recently the technology executive for Digg.com, driving the growth in the company from 200,000 to 3.5MM users, from 40MM to 250MM page views a month, from ten to eighty employees and to over 35MM unique visitors a month, making it one of the most highly trafficked websites in the world.
At Digg, Brian led the engineering teams and grew it from three to twenty developers. To achieve that growth, Brian became an expert in adapting process changes for a rapidly evolving technical team and crafted a custom Agile/Scrum software methodology that will scale both the work and organization itself going forward. Additionally, Brian established and built the QA and R&D teams; creating test-driven processes to integrate QA into the software lifecycle; and building an R&D team that is actively involved in the product roadmap, contributing complex algorithms and prototyping features that become part of Digg.
Prior to Digg, Brian spent most of his career at Cambridge Technology Partners where he delivered over twenty full life-cycle custom software development projects for various industries by deploying many different types of technology. The early part of his career there was largely technical, programming and building large scalable enterprise and e-Commerce systems. His experience also includes architectural leadership, project and program management and five years in client delivery management where he was ultimately responsible for all of the projects and accounts in a five state region.
Most recently, Brian moved back to Ohio to launch his own consulting business in the social media space: BE Interactive Consulting. The company’s focus is on strategic management consulting delivering best practices for companies looking to employ social media to extend their brand, find new customers, make new partnerships and build their businesses.
